While the blog updates might have slowed down over the past month or so, don’t let that deceive you: a TON has been going on at Sugar Streak! June was packed with exciting developments. Here’s a quick recap:
June 1 – Invitations were sent out to join the Beta Cells, our super-secret group of beta testers. They got first access to Sugar Streak, before it was even released. If you want to join the Beta Cells, feel free to email me and we’ll get you plugged in!
June 5-8th – I attended the American Diabetes Associations Scientific Sessions in beautiful Boston, Massachusetts. We were fortunate enough to be invited to attend the tech-focused D-Data ExChange session hosted by DiabetesMine. It was inspiring being surrounded by the brightest minds in diabetes technology. Learn more about the session here.
June 10th – Sugar Streak is born (kinda)! On this day, we started our soft launch on the iTunes App Store for Sugar Streak to test our servers’ ability to handle new users. A formal, larger scale launch will be coming soon!
June 12th – Sugar Streak was invited to joined the stage at Pitch Tech 2015 in San Diego. This is a “Shark Tank”-style pitch competition where 10 of the top startups in San Diego were selected to pitch to a panel of investors and experienced entrepreneur. It was the first time I’ve ever pitched, and it was such a nerve-wracking experience!
June 18th-19th – I moderated a panel on diabetes technology at Connected Healthcare 2015, a leading digital health conference in San Diego. One of the panelists was Dr. Suzanne Clough of WellDoc, the first mobile app that is prescribed by Doctors for diabetes. On the second day of the conference, I joined a panel on the future of wearables along with leaders from companies like Misfit and Lumo.

June 19th – Our second pitch competition in 7 days! We were privileged to come in as 4th place winners at the CyberTech Pitch Night in San Diego. I met awesome entrepreneurs in the San Diego startup scene, who I’m sure will be household names over the coming years. The other winners were Industry, Greetly, and Secured Universe.
June 30th – My final day as an endocrinology fellow at UC San Diego! I’m horribly saddened to be leaving San Diego, but am excited about future opportunities that await in Los Angeles.
We hope to release our next version with new features and bug fixes in early July, so get ready!
